There is a growing awareness that Florida's archaeological sites are being destroyed on a daily basis by vandalism and development. The activities of the AHC are directed toward preserving and protecting sites so that they may be enjoyed and studied by future generations. We also encourage the restoration and utilization of archaeological sites as parks, greenspaces, wildlife refuges, and research centers.
The AHC was incorporated as a non-profit organization on December 28, 1979 and became fully operational in April, 1985. Founded by a group of profesional and avocational archaeologists concerned about Florida's dwindling cultural resources.
